Wine of the Week

Étim Syrah 2005 [Red]
Producer: Agricola Falset-Marça
Region: DO Montsant

In recent years a "new" grape (Syrah) has been the basis of some of the more interesting wines from Spain. This phenomenal Étim from the Falset co-op shows how well Syrah is showing, especially in the warmer parts of the country.

A dark purple/black color with a terrific nose: ripe berry fruit, minty cholcolate and dry mountain herbs, with a stony/mineral touch. Ripe, rich and full-bodied on the palate with cassis/blueberry fruit, spice and a hint of tapenade. Excellent with a great finish.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
