Wine of the Week

Viñas de Gain 2004 [Red]
Producer: Artadi
Region: DOC Rioja

In recent years this wine has been a solid performer in the mid-price range. The 2004 Rioja vintage has had good press of late and Viñas de Gain shows why. A delicious wine with body that will go well with steak, roasts and (of course) well cured cheeses.

Inky dark cherry red color. Great nose with a pleasing blend of toasty oak (peat) and bright, fresh wild berry fruit (blueberry). On the palate it's got good body and crisp acidity with ample fruit and notable tanicity. Excellent.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
