Jakue
Wine of the Week

Jakue 2005 [White]
Producer: Talai-Berri
Region: DO Chacolí de Guetaria

Made from the Basque Country's native Hondarribi Zuri grape from Talai-Berri's own vineyards, this is without a doubt one of the best chacolĂ/txacoli white wines I've ever tried. Crisp, fresh and light (11% alc), it's nice on its own and a perfect match for fish or shellfish.

Pale straw color, clean and bright. Lovely complexity on the nose with citrus (lime/grapefruit), a hint of anise and flowers, and a pleasant touch of minerality. The palate's crisp and fresh with citrus and tropical fruit flavors, great length. Excellent.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
