Wine of the Week

Yasa 2004 [Red]
Producer: Virgen de la Sierra
Region: DO Calatayud

Here's another great value red from Calatayud. Made from 100% old vines Garnacha grapes, grown in the highest elevations of the DO Calatayud region. Great with roasts or a grilled burger.

Medium dark cherry color. Rich, ripe berry fruit dominates the nose, followed by a brushy/spicy scent. On the palate it's fresh and very fruity (cherry/blackberry) with a noticable spicy/peppery component typical of quality Garnacha-based wines. Excellent value, very good.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
