Wine of the Week

Les Terrasses 2001 [Red]
Producer: Alvaro Palacios
Region: DO Priorat

This is the "basic" wine from Alvaro Palacios of L'Ermita fame. Made from mainly CariƱena and Garnacha, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. Barrel aged in mainly French oak. A good value as far as Priorat is concerned. Good with red meat or burgers.

Dark cherry red color. Nice nose with hints of toasty oak, ripe dark berry fruit and a bit of spice. Rich and elegant on the palate with well integrated oak, ripe fruit and good length. Very good.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
