Wine of the Week

Becquer Blanco 2019 [White]
Producer: Bodegas Vinsacro
Region: DOC Rioja

50% chardonnay, 50% viura (macabeo) from the winery's own vineyards (viura 60 years, chardonnay 40 years). Fermented in American oak barrels, resting on the lees until April with daily "battonage".

Bright golden yellow color, attractive aromas of honeycomb, butterscotch, lemon curd & quince with a subtle oaky background with vanilla and cinnamon.
Smooth and easy on palate with ripe tropical fruit, spice and a nice minerally "crunch" on the finish. An excellent bottle of wine, great with food, should appeal to California chardonnay fans.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
