Parajes de los Vidrios Garnacha 2017 [Red]
Producer: Parajes de los Vidrios
Region: DO Vinos de Madrid

100% old vines garnacha (80-100 years old) grown on granite based soils in the Sierra de Gredos area. Nurtured 12 months in 500 liter French oak barrels.

Lightish red, leaning toward brick color (the only sign of middle age), pinot-like on the nose with tea leaves, dry flowers, leather & dried cherry/cranberry fruit.
Ample ripe berry fruit, elegant with refined tannins and a lovely mouthfilling finish. Holding up well, excellent stuff.

Gredos mountain's garnachas have become fashionable of late. Clearly a different take on the grape compared to it's cousins in Calatayud or Campo de Borja which are deeper & darker.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
