Wine of the Week

Fino La Ina [Fortified]
Producer: La Ina (Lustau)
Region: DO Jerez-Xéres-Sherry, Manzanilla

La Ina is a Jerez/Sherry classic. The original "solera" was laid down by Pedro Domecq in 1919. The brand was taken over by Lustau in 2001, but the original 4,200 barrel solera remains. This fino is nurtured for 5 years in these same American oak "botas".

Clean pale straw color, armomas of almonds, dry hay, apples and a hint of salinity.
Bone dry, crisp & fresh with apples and dried fruits and (again) a touch of seaside salinity. An excellent example of a properly made dry fino sherry. Very good and a great value. Hard to beat.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
