Wine of the Week

Gran Reserva 904 "Selección Especial" 2015 [Red]
Producer: La Rioja Alta, SA
Region: DOC Rioja

90% tempranillo (vineyards in Villalba, Briñas and Rodezno), 10% graciano (Montecillo vineyard in Fuenmayor), optically selected use only the best fruit, nurtured 4 years in American oak barrels, bottled in February 2020.

Amazingly complex/elegant on the nose with blueberries, mature dry fruit, delicate spice (nutmeg/cinnamon/cardomom), tabacco/cigarbox.
Super smooth tannins, ripe fruit and spice on the palate. Potent yet supremely elegant with a finish that goes on and on. An outstanding bottle of wine that will show well for many years to come.

Could well be the best wine I've had the pleasure to taste this year. The winery tells me 2015 is one of their best ever vintages, hard to disagree.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
