Wine of the Week

Elo Monastrell 2017 [Red]
Producer: Alberto Orte
Region: DO Yecla

100% monastrell grapes from 50 year old vines in the El Alterón vineyard. The altitud (770 meters) dry climate and chalky/stony limestone soils help make this wine special. The fermented wine is nurtured for 12 months in used 500 liter oak barrels, resting another year in concrete tanks before bottling.

Bright and fresh with no noticable signs of age, cherry/berry fruit, spice & herbs (thyme, dry flowers, anise).
Easy tannins, smooth and palate pleasing with fresh berry fruit, a hint of spice & minerals, and a nice finish. A very good wine, built to enjoy.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
