El Castro de Valtuille Barrica 2020 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas y Viñedos Castro Ventosa
Region: DO Bierzo

100% mencía grapes from 20-30 year old vines growing on sandy/chalky soils. Nurtured 14 months in French oak barrels, not fined or filtered. Winemaker: Raúl Pérez

Black cherry & strawberry fruit aromas with a hint of spice (nutmeg/cardamom) and subtle vegetal and flowery notes (lavender blossoms).
Classy & elegant with clean berry fruit, lovely silky tannins & notable persistence. Excellent bottle of wine, good value to boot.

Master winemaker Raúl Pérez has been instrumental in putting Bierzo on the map.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
