Rodrejo
Wine of the Week

Rodrejo 2001 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Huertas
Region: DO Jumilla

Not long ago, we talked about this same producer's rosé and this hearty unoaked red is made along the same lines: 100% Monastrell from Jumilla in Southeastern Spain. A fruity red with body that will improve over the next year or so and should go well with most meat dishes. Very good, great value.

Dark purple/red color. Rich intense fruit aromas of fresh blackberries & blueberries with a slightly floral note. Full-bodied palate with lots of ripe fruit, balanced acidity and hearty tannins. Good now, but should mellow out and be even better in 6 months or so.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
