Wine of the Week

Cair Cuvée 2019 [Red]
Producer: Dominio de Cair Bodegas
Region: DO Ribera del Duero

85% tempranillo, 15% merlot grown at altitude (820-950 meters) on limestone/clay soils with some sand/gravel. Nurtured 10 months in oak barrels (60% French, 40% American), 6 months in the bottle cellar before release.

Blueberry/blackberry & raspberry, spice (nutmeg/cinnamon) and a hint of smoke.
Attractive fresh blueberry fruit, mellow spice (vanilla/butterscotch), smooth tannins, nicely balanced finish. Very good.

A fine example of a well made Ribera, no oak soup here.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
