Arvum
Wine of the Week

Arvum 2017 [Red]
Producer: Familia Escudero
Region: DOC Rioja

100% "vidau" (older vineyards where multiple grape varieties were planted together), the vines here are 80-120 years old. The blend is 40% tempranillo, 40% garnacha & 20% other. Nurtured 17 months in French & Romanian oak barrels.

Deep, dark and serious stuff. Ripe berry/plum fruit, a touch of spice, chocolate and tobacco leaves.
Great mouthfeel, rich & chewy, lively sweet/smooth tannins and great persistence. Excellent bottle of wine, a keeper.

Escudero's Cuesta de la Reina vineyard on the slopes of Monte Yerga is one of Rioja's oldest and finest properties.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
