Laya
Wine of the Week

Laya 2020 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Atalaya
Region: DO Almansa

70% garnacha tintorera (alicante bouschet), 30% monastrell, nurtured 4 months in French oak barrels. Dry climate, nutrient poor limestone soils, 1,000 meters above sea level.

Deep dark purple color, sweet ripe plums, a touch of toast/smoke & floral scents.
Rich, hearty, juicy fruit and a decent dose of oak. Smooth tannins, nice long finish. Very good, terrific value.

A good example of DO Almansa and the predominant grape, garnacha tintorera.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
