Wine of the Week

Corcovo Reserva 1997 [Red]
Producer: J.M.Megía
Region: DO Valdepeñas

Valdepeñas is best known for inexpensive, easy to drink reds. This Corcovo Reserva is not particularly expensive, but reminds us of a more expensive Spanish red from more northerly climes. This crisp and tasty red should be just the thing to go with a standing prime rib of beef. Very good.

A bright cherry red color with just a hint of garnet along the edge. A clean, fresh nose of ripe cherries, a touch of spice and minerals. The palate's remarkably clean and bright with fresh ripe cherries, nice acidity and good length. Very good.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
