Wine of the Week

Xanledo 2019 [Red]
Producer: Viñedos do Gabian
Region: DO Ribeiro

60% Caiño Longo & 40% Brancellao, grown on granite-based soils (sábrego), whole bunch fermented on open-top barrels, nurtured 11 months in French oak.

Dark berry fruit and flowers at first sniff, followed by gentle spicy notes (cardamom) and stony minerals. The oak is nicely integrated, a factor not a force.
Bright and clean with fresh berry fruit and violets with steely acidity & river stones; solid structure with crisp tannins and great persistence. Excellent stuff, shows it's Atlantic-influenced origins. A keeper.

Had the good fortune enjoy this wine with my friend Abraham García at his restaurant, Viridiana.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
