Naiades
Wine of the Week

Naiades (magnum) 2011 [White]
Producer: Bodegas Naia
Region: DO Rueda

100% verdejo from small selected plots, some with vines over 100 years old. Barrel fermented, nurtured on the lees for 7 months with "batonnage".

Eye catching golden yellow color. Elegant & complex: minerals, stone fruit, citrus, herbs (tarragon/fennel) with a hint of dry straw.
11 years along it's still fresh and flavorful, rich and mouth filling with loads of peach/apricot fruit, stony minerals & fresh herbs. Fresh, balanced & with great persistence. ˇAn outstanding bottle of wine!

On release some criticized it for excessive oakiness, but now it's all in balance. Pure pleasure in a glass.
Thanks to Víctor Diaz (Los Picazos) for the introduction.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
