Wine of the Week

Finca Can Martí 2014 [Sparkling]
Producer: Torelló Viticultors
Region: Corpinnat

32% chardonnay, 32% xarel.lo, 22% macabeo, 14% parellada, traditional method (2nd fermentation in bottle), resting on the lees for 48 months. Brut with 4 grams/liter of residual sugar.

A serious sparkling wine, complex nose (orange blossoms, apple & a hint of fennel), with body & excellent bubbles.
Rich and creamy on the palate: floral notes, citrus, pears/green apples. Crisp acidity and good length, finishes on a fresh, slightly bitterish/pine needle note. Excellent.

The Torelló wines are produced under the prestigious Corpinnat designation.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
