Wine of the Week

Península Palo Cortado [Fortified]
Producer: Lustau
Region: DO Jerez-Xéres-Sherry, Manzanilla

100% palomino fino, developed in sherry butts. Palo cortado sherries are something special; said to offer the elegance and class of an amontillado with the richness and body of an oloroso.

Penetrating, yet subtle nose, clean, wonderfully complex with walnuts/hazlenuts, vanilla, cinnamon & nutmeg.
Smooth and elegant on the palate: walnuts, maple syrup, heather honey & chocolate. Refreshing acidity and enormous length. Outstanding.

An excellent example of palo cortado, a different and relatively rare type of sherry. A wine to mull over and enjoy.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
