Wine of the Week

Alagú Forcallat 2018 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Casa Corredor
Region: Vinos de España

100% forcallat, stomped the old fashioned way, whole bunch fermentation (70%), malolactic fermentation in used 225 & 500 liter barrels, nurtured in both 225 and 500 liter oak barrels.

Great nose: bright, fresh & fruit driven with floral notes and scents of underbrush and aromatic mountain herbs (thyme/rosemary).
Ripe red berry fruit, rich on the palate with dry herbs and a hint of minerals, balanced tannins with a nice long finish. An excellent bottle of wine.

Forcallat aka forcallá is a little known grape variety grown in parts of La Mancha, Alicante & Murcia. After tasting this wine, it certainly shows promise.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
