Fefiñanes
Wine of the Week

Fefiñanes III Año 2017 [White]
Producer: Palacio de Fefiñanes
Region: DO RÍas Baixas

100% albariño from the Valle de Salnés sub-region, close to the Atlantic. Nurtured in steel tanks: 7 months with "bâtonnage" on the lees, and another 23 months "resting". Bottled in February 2020.

Aromas of dry flowers & herbs (fennel), fruit (dried apricot & peach), citrus (lime) and honey/beeswax.
Smooth and mellow while retaining albariño's bracing acidity, a touch saline, ripe stone fruit showing some riesling-like depth and complexity. An outstanding bottle of wine.

Year after year among the top rated Spanish white wines. The 2017 is no exception. Drinking nicely now, will grow in the cellar for several more years. A wine to sip and enjoy.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
