Es Lo Que Hay Old Vines Garnacha 2019 [Red]
Producer: El Escocés Volante
Region: Vinos de España

95% garnacha, 5% "other". A field blend from very old vines grown on slate & limestone soils in the upper reaches of Calatayud (Aragón). Open tank fermented with lengthy skin contact. Nurtured 15 months on the lees in Flextank eggs.

Serious/complex stuff with ample berry fruit (blackberry, cherry, raspberry, plum), gravel/stones, mountain herbs and a touch of dry hay.
Plenty of fruit on the palate, terse tannins with body/substance and great persistence. Delicious and very drinkable. Excellent.

Norrel Robertson MW, El Escocés Volante (The Flying Scot) has been making splendid garnacha-based wines in the Calatayud area since 2004.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
