Wine of the Week

Casa Castillo 2000 [Red]
Producer: Julia Roche e Hijos
Region: DO Jumilla

Made from Monastrell [85%] and Syrah grapes grown in the southeastern region of Jumilla [Murcia] and a bit oak age [4 months], this is a potent, full-bodied red wine with character and depth. A good barbeque wine.

Deep dark purple color. A bit closed in the nose, but with nicely complex aromas of ripe berry fruit, a hint of spice and a delicate flowery touch. Rich and full-bodied palate, thick and tannic with great length & depth. Excellent and a great value as well.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
