Ziríes
Wine of the Week

Ziríes 2014 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Ziríes
Region: Vinos de España

100% garnacha, partial whole bunch fermentation, nurtured 15 months in used 500 liter French oak barrels, organic/biodynamic.

Dark in color with rich/ripe bramble berry fruit, rose petals, brushy upland herbs ("garrigue") plus a touch of black pepper and minerals.
Tasty, serious stuff with excellent fruit, user friendly tannins, mouthfilling chewy texture with balance and good persistence. Excellent.

A small scale operation (around 8,000 bottles/year) in the province of Toldedo, close to the Montes de Toledo natural reserve. Terroir/vineyard focus, organically certified since 2012. Bottled under the Vinos de España denomination.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
