Gran Barquero Amontillado [Fortified]
Producer: Pérez Barquero
Region: DO Montilla-Moriles

100% pedro ximénez grapes from Sierra de Montilla & Moriles Altos. Nurtured more than 10 years under "flor" (biological), plus at least 15 additional years in barrels (oxidative); both stages in 500/600 liter "botas" of American oak.

A beautiful golden mahogany color with an incredibly complex nose & palate: toasted almonds, dried fruit (apricots/apple chips), orange peel, nutmeg, walnuts... the list goes on.
Smooth & easy on the palate (despite the 19% ABV), saline with notes of beeswax & vintage wood, and a finish that goes on and on. Spectacular.

An outstanding example of amontillado and reasonably priced to boot. A genuine eye-opener, and a great way to get into Montilla-Moriles's truly amazing wines.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
