Wine of the Week

Leda Viņas Viejas 1999 [Red]
Producer: Bodegas Leda Viņas Viejas
Region:

Yet another example of a superb non-DO wine. Made from old vines grapes grown in the same geographic area as Ribera del Duero, but produced as a Vino de la Tierra. Aged 15 months in new French oak, this is a powerful wine that will go well with steak or a hearty beef stew.

Deep dark cherry red color. Spice, oak and rich ripe fruit [berries, cherry] on the nose. Thick, rich full-bodied palate with ripe plummy/berry fruit, fine [and noticable] oak, vanilla, spice, and a very long finish. Excellent.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
