Wine of the Week

Armas de Lanzós 2013 [White]
Producer: Palacio de Fefiñanes
Region: DO RÍas Baixas

100% albariño, multiple stages of development: nurtured in tanks on the lees for 2 years, then in 500 liter oak barrels two more years before bottling in magnums August 2017.

Albariño aromas predominate: apricot/peaches, dry grass & flowers, citrus... elegant & subtle. Apart from a hint of spice, there's no sign of the oak.
Silky smooth on the palate with serious but balanced acidity: stone fruit, flowers, honeycomb. Lasting finish. A deliciously different take on albariño. Excellent.

A wine worth knowing. Worked a treat with our roasted Bresse chicken, but should pair well with an ample range of dishes.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
