Wine of the Week

Finca Moncloa 2016 [Red]
Producer: González-Byass
Region: Vinos de España

A blend of syrah (58%), cabernet sauvignon (18%), tintilla (18%), merlot (1%) & tempranillo (1%). Nurtured 12 months in French & American oak barrels, bottled April 2017. Region: IGP Cádiz. Tintilla (or tintilla de Rota) is known as graciano in Rioja.

Nice bright color, fresh red berry fruit (cherry/gooseberry), a hint of spice (nutmeg/cinnamon) and a touch floral.
Medium body, berries & flowers, balanced tannins, no rough edges, a pleasure to drink. Very good.

Enjoyed this at Sacha, an excellent Madrid restaurant with amazing food and a useful wine list.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
