Albariño
Wine of the Week

Albariño de Fefiñanes III Año 2016 [White]
Producer: Palacio de Fefiñanes
Region: DO RÍas Baixas

100% albariño, fermented in stainless steel tanks, nurtured 7 months on the lees (with bâtonnage), resting another 23 months in tanks before bottling in February 2019.

Citrus, bay leaf, dried flowers/straw, honey ripe fruit (apricot/pear/apple), floral with a mineral/saline touch on the nose.
Mellow & fresh lemony acidity on palate with honeycomb, baked apple, honeysuckle and a stony/saline finish that goes on and on. Length, depth, complexity, balance... in a word, splendid!

Year after year makes my list of Spain's top white wines. This is pleasure in glass and great with food. We enjoyed it with this year's Thanksgiving turkey.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
