Wine of the Week

Ignios Marmajuelo 2013 [White]
Producer: Ignios Origenes
Region: Do Ycoden-Daute-Isora

The label graphic leaves little doubt about the vineyard's volcanic origins. Made from Marmajuelo, a white grape native to the Canary Islands, this wine is an attention getter with character and a personality all its own. Excellent.

A golden yellow, almost brassy color. Very aromatic with spicy/floral notes of broom flower and bay leaves. Full and rich on the palate, a pleasant nutty flavor (almonds, hazlenuts and dried apricots), unctuous, full of flavor and a hint of bitterness that extends an already lengthy finish.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
