Wine of the Week

Gran Reserva 904 2001 [Red]
Producer: La Rioja Alta, SA
Region: DOC Rioja

A genuine Rioja classic from a superlative vintage. 90% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, aged 4 years in used American oak barrels, bottled in June 2006. This is what a Rioja Gran Reserva is all about. Great wine, not to be missed.

Medium cherry red color with just a hint of brick along the edge. A wonderful nose, filled with those well-aged "bouquet" smells: beeswax, old leather, dried cherry fruit, sandalwood & cardamom. Silky smooth, balanced palate. Easy to drink with sweet ripe berry fruit, leather & dark chocolate. Enormous complexity and great length.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
