Wine of the Week

Palacio de Bornos Verdejo 2010 [White]
Producer: Bodegas de Crianza de Castilla La Vieja
Region: DO Rueda

Verdejo-based wines from Rueda have become a dominant player in Spain's white wine trade. A good value and full of flavor, these wines work well on their own, and with a wide variety of dishes. Palacio de Bornos led the way for the region from the start and continues to be one of the top producers, vintage after vintage.

Pale straw color and a lively, aromatic nose with citrus (grapefruit) and fruit (apple/pear), along with orange peel and fresh, grassy herbs. The classic varietal orange zest "zip" reappears on the palate along with crisp citrus and tree fruit flavors. Nice long fresh clean finish. Very good.

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
