Wine of the Week

San Romá¡n 2006 [Red]
Producer: Bodega Maurodos
Region: DO Toro

Right from the start, Mariano García's San Román showed great promise. Today it's a Toro classic and an excellent example of what the Tempranillo grape can do in the right hands. Excellent.

Nice dark color with lots of wood-based aromatics: coconut, vanilla, and spice (clove/cinnamon); along with a good dose of fruit (blueberry/blackberry). The palate shows even more of the fruit component, followed by another blast of quality oak. Terrific stuff!

A note to our readers:
I've used SRP, which is the normal price in Spain expressed in US dollars [Low=$5-9, Medium=$10-18, High=$19+]. The wines selected are usually moderately priced and generally exported around the world. Some exceptions happen...
